THE HOLY BIBLE

The Holy Bible is written by men but inspired by God [2 Timothy 3:16, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.” (ESV)]  For a more complete review and recommendation to read God’s written Word, see Psalm 119:1-176; the author of this Hebrew acrostic poem counsels his readers to interact with God’s laws by knowing them, delighting in them, and keeping them.

As other books appear on this “Recommended Reading” list, please remember to always test and measure what those books say with what Scripture teaches. God’s Word is the authoritative source necessary to weigh and measure truth.

AICF RECOMMENDED READING LIST

Knowing God by J.I. Packer. Originally published in 1973, this book has become a classic, offering practical theology and teaching deep biblical truths. It was updated in 1993 and sold over 1 million copies. J.I. Packer writes “…I thought of it as a study book that could hardly be of general interest. I was wrong.”

Spurgeon on Prayer & Spiritual Warfare by Charles Spurgeon. Anything you pick up by Charles Spurgeon is a gold mine. This book is sure to be a great help.

Grow: Reproducing through Organic Discipleship is a good short read. Author Winfield Bevins does a good job touching on many topics related to discipleship. This book could be significantly larger to expand on each topic, however, for a free e-book it’s excellent.

RECOMMENDED READING LISTS FROM OTHER SOURCES
